Now that we know why All About Me is such an important theme, let’s talk about what this unit entails! You can focus on characteristics such as hair, skin, eyes, in addition to likes, dislikes, similarities, and differences. The intentional conversations we create with young children when learning about their ideas and experiences are so important! They help our youngest students build quality relationships and create a sense of belonging amongst each other. Teaching children to share their likes, dislikes, as well as their talents and struggles, helps other children see how we all are different yet unique in our own way. Not to fret, this is completely normal and developmentally appropriate for this age group! As children grow older, they start to develop empathy and are able to see different points of view. At the preschool age, young children are very egocentric and tend to focus on their own wants and perspectives.
